Avery & Kanyon: A Love Story That Started with a Blind Date
Some love stories begin with years of friendship, while others start in the most unexpected ways—like a spontaneous blind date. Avery and Kanyon’s journey together is full of charm, laughter, and a little bit of nerdy sweetness. Before I show you all the photos from their session in draper utah, lets get to know them.
How They Met
Avery and Kanyon’s story began their senior year of high school when Avery and her friend randomly decided to ask some guys out for a same-day date. As fate would have it, Avery’s friend had met Kanyon at a football game the week before and thought he was incredibly nice. Though she had initially wanted to ask him out, she had just been to the gym with him a few days prior and didn’t want to seem desperate. Lucky for Avery—because she won that night!
So, without knowing much about him, Avery asked Kanyon out on what turned out to be a blind date. When she arrived at his house to pick him up, her friend casually dropped a last-minute warning: “Oh, I got to warn you… he’s like nerdy, but a cute nerdy.” Definitely something Avery would have appreciated knowing before she was already parked outside his house!
Their first date was fun, but it wasn’t until three months later, in December, that things really took off. Kanyon asked Avery on a second date, and this time, the chemistry was undeniable. They were both extra flirty, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. On New Year’s Eve, Kanyon officially asked Avery to be his girlfriend. Fast forward to now—they’re getting married!
The Proposal
Kanyon planned a proposal that was so perfectly him—thoughtful, slightly chaotic, and incredibly sweet. They had plans for a movie date that evening, but Avery got stuck at work for an extra hour. On her way home, Kanyon reassured her that it was fine because he had actually gotten the movie time wrong (classic Kanyon move), and they had an extra hour to spare.
While driving, he also mentioned that his dog, Bentley, was being extra wild and needed a walk. So naturally, they decided to take Bentley up a trail near his house—one they walked together often.
Despite it being pitch black and freezing outside, Kanyon insisted they go. At this point, Avery had started to suspect something was up. As they walked up the trail, he wouldn’t let her pull out her flashlight—he didn’t want her to see what was ahead too soon. When they turned the corner, lights hung from the trees, and a sign that read “Marry me?” awaited them.
Bentley, of course, had to be tied to a bench to keep the moment from turning into a total circus. Kanyon, overcome with emotion, got choked up as he proposed—making the moment even more special. Friends were hiding nearby, capturing everything in photos and videos. After the magical proposal, they grabbed Taco Time before heading off to meet Avery’s family and see Christmas lights together. It was the perfect ending to a perfect night.
Their Favorite Things to Do Together
Avery and Kanyon’s relationship is full of fun and everyday joy. They love cooking together and playing games—especially since Kanyon got his sisters a Nintendo Switch for Christmas, and Mario Bros. has become a recent favorite. They also enjoy running errands together (Target trips are Avery’s personal favorite), eating out, and taking their dogs on walks when the weather is nice.
The Wild Engagement Session
When it came time for their engagement session in Draper Utah, nature had other plans. With 35 mph winds and a full-on blizzard, the conditions were brutal. They toughed it out for 20 minutes, laughing and making the most of it before finally deciding to reschedule. Even though it was freezing and chaotic, Avery and Kanyon embraced the moment, proving that no matter what, they always find a way to have fun together.
Their love story is full of unexpected turns, sweet moments, and plenty of laughter. If their journey so far is any indication, their future together is going to be an adventure worth capturing.
