“We met on our missions for our church in Italy. Became friends quickly and served in the same city for both of our last cities. I went home in November and Bennett went home in December. Almost exactly a month after I did. Before I went home, we had a plan that I was going to set him up with my cousin. Bennett was going to set me up with his best friend.

He says that after I left and he was still in Italy, he thought that he’d messed up and he actually wanted to go on a date with me instead. When he came home, we just hung out as friends and went to go see Christmas lights in Draper at the Tree of Light. That friend hang out quickly turned into a date and we’d been together pretty much ever since!”

How he proposed

“Bennett and I went to dinner at one of my favorite places, and then he took me to antelope island (the place where we went on a date to on the night we made it official), and he had built this tree out of PVC pipes and decorated it to look like the Tree of Light that we saw on our first date. It was so cute.”
